About Travelmacher

The trip report, without sanding off the interesting parts.

Travelmacher grew out of long-form trip reports: the kind that include the history behind a place, the odd conversations, the practical details, the things that went wrong, and whether a supposedly great attraction was actually worth the trouble.

We travel as a family, often to places where logistics matter just as much as sightseeing. That can mean finding accommodations with a kitchen, figuring out kosher food in an unexpected destination, using miles and points to make an ambitious itinerary work, or hiring a guide who can lead us somewhere we never would have found on our own.

The goal here is simple: tell the story honestly and leave in enough detail that someone else can use it.

At times the trip felt like an expedition, at others a history lesson, and sometimes just an extraordinary family vacation.
